When you read Proverbs 31…
What’s the first thing that pops into your head?
For me, it’s a question: If this is what the wife does, what is the man supposed to do?
I start to list the things that my wife does–before and after she comes home from working all day, BTW–and suddenly, I realize that I don’t even come close to appreciating her enough.
But I digress… back to where we are–today.
You have committed to relearn your wife, to re-sync your marriage and return to that life of wedded bliss you remember before you got lazy.
But I have so far to go… I don’t know if I can do this!
You can do this. We will start small. Remember, a ton of individual flowers still weighs 2000 lbs. Alone, a single flower weighs a insignificant fraction of that. But, over time, if you pile up enough flowers, you will reach your goal. Building that massive bouquet of flowers will take a lifetime… but isn’t that why we’re here in the first place?
Have you started your list? Here are a few items to get you started:
What is her favorite color, flower, song, fruit, vegetable, and etc.?
What are 3 things that you do every day that she likes?
Do you have a favorite perfume that she wears?
What time of the day is she at her most talkative?
Also, start thinking of things you used to do for her back in the years when you were dating and after, during your first years of marriage.
Our goal is this: you want your wife to know that you love, honor, respect, value, and cherish her. This takes time. It’s gonna take more than 365 days. This next year is not just to be “done with it” so you can move on with your life. The next 363 days is for the laying of a good foundation–a habitual one that will help you in the proper maintenance and the regrowth of a solid, synchronized marriage relationship!
So get back to your list, and continue to build it.
And don’t forget – give her a call today and tell her you love her. This is our first cornerstone. The rest of our foundation depends on making this cornerstone a consistent and dependable piece.
Have a great day!
